2025 Online Application Guide for Coastal KZN TVET College

Step 1: Career Guidance

  • Complete career guidance to help you choose a career.
  • You can return later to finish steps 2 and 3. Keep your username and password safe.
  • Register using the “first time here?” button and complete the “pre-entry information” folder.
    • Complete all screening assessments and click “finish” at the end.

Step 2: Placement Assessment

  • Log in and complete the literacy, numeracy, and course selection assessments.

Important:

  • The assessment is compulsory and not a pass/fail test.
  • Complete it yourself to avoid poor course performance.

Step 3: Online Application

  • Complete all sections and upload certified documents in PDF format.
  • Incomplete applications will not be processed.
  • Submit the application to be assessed.
  • Expect feedback after the closing date via SMS or email.

Courses Offered at Coastal TVET College

Courses Offered:

  1. National Certificate Vocational (NCV)
    • Levels: 2, 3, and 4 on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
    • Duration: 1 year per level, 7 subjects per level.
    • Entry Requirement: Grade 9 or higher.
    • Registration: January only.
  2. Nated Programmes (Report-191)
    • Offered by the Department of Higher Education and Training.
    • Engineering Studies: Trimester courses (3 months per level).
      • Entry Requirement: N3 or Grade 12 with Maths, Physical Science, or Technical Drawing (40% pass rate).
      • Registration: January, May, and August.
    • Business Studies: Semester courses (6 months per level).
      • Entry Requirement: N3 or Grade 12.
      • Registration: January and June.
    • Diploma: National Diploma (M+3) after completing N6 and required in-service training (18 months for Business, 24 months for Engineering).
  3. Skills Programmes
    • Focused on practical skills.
    • Certification by the college unless stated otherwise.
