Courses Offered at Lunghile Nursing School

The nursing courses offered at Lunghile are accredited by the South African Nursing Council (SANC). These are proper qualifications designed to make you a fully registered nurse or midwife in South Africa.

Here is what they offer:

  • R.683 – Bridging Course for Enrolled Nurses: This is a 2-year course for already enrolled nurses who want to upgrade and become Registered General Nurses or Psychiatric Nurses. If you already hold an Enrolled Nurse certificate, this course is your next step.
  • R.254 – Diploma in Midwifery: This course is for nurses who want to specialise in Midwifery and register as a Professional Midwife with SANC. It focuses on reproductive health, antenatal care, and childbirth.
  • R.212 – Clinical Nursing Science (Post Basic): This course allows professional nurses to get an additional qualification in Clinical Nursing Science. It is for nurses who already have a diploma or degree and want to specialise further in a specific nursing field.

All these courses are fully accredited and lead to professional registration with the South African Nursing Council.

How to Apply at Lunghile Nursing School

There is no online application form on the website. To apply, you need to contact the campus directly by email or phone and request the application pack. Each course has its own requirements, so do not assume it is one-size-fits-all.

When contacting the school, be specific about:

  • The course you want to apply for (R.683, R.254, or R.212)
  • The campus you want to attend (Johannesburg or East London)
  • Include your Grade 12 certificate or nursing registration if applicable

If you are applying for the Bridging Course (R.683), you must already be registered as an Enrolled Nurse with SANC.

Once your documents are reviewed, the school will advise on next steps which could include entrance testing, interviews, and submission of certified copies.
