Admission and APS Calculation
Admission to UJ is strictly based on academic merit. The university uses an Admission Point Score (APS) calculated from your best six subjects, including the language of instruction but excluding Life Orientation.
- Life Orientation: This subject is not included in the APS calculation.
- Minimum APS: While requirements vary, most degree programmes require an APS between 26 and 35.
- Mathematics: Technical, science, and many business degrees require Mathematics; Mathematical Literacy is only accepted for specific programmes in Humanities or Education.
