This guide provides straightforward insights for your 2027 studies at the University of Zululand (UNIZULU), based strictly on the official undergraduate admission brochures and the Central Applications Office (CAO) guidelines.
University of Zululand (UNIZULU) 2027 Application
Applying for a University of Zululand online application requires a different approach than most other provinces, as the university uses a centralised system for the KwaZulu-Natal region.
- The CAO Centralised System: You do not apply directly to UNIZULU. You must apply through the Central Applications Office (CAO). This allows you to apply for multiple courses at UNIZULU and other KZN institutions using a single application and one fee.
- Non-Refundable Fee: The CAO application fee is R250 for on-time applications. If you apply after 31 October, the fee usually doubles for late status.
- APS Calculation (No LO): UNIZULU calculates your Admission Point Score (APS) using your six best subjects. Life Orientation is strictly excluded from the point total, though you must still pass it to receive your National Senior Certificate (NSC).
- Campus-Specific Programmes: UNIZULU operates across two main campuses. The KwaDlangezwa Campus hosts traditional academic degrees in Arts, Education, and Science, while the Richards Bay Campus focuses on vocational and entrepreneurial programmes like Tourism and Business Management.
- First Choice Preference: The university often gives preference to applicants who choose UNIZULU as their first or second choice on their CAO form. If you are certain about studying here, place your desired UNIZULU course at the top of your list.
Important UNIZULU 2027 Application Dates
- 1 March 2026: Applications officially open via the CAO portal.
- 30 September 2026: General closing date for all undergraduate degree programmes.
- 31 October 2026: Final date for "on-time" administration fees; applications after this date are considered "late."
