University of Venda (UNIVEN) 2027 Application Strategic Insights

- Completely Free Online Applications: UNIVEN does not charge an application fee for students who apply through the official online portal.
- The Point System (Scoring Scale): UNIVEN uses a 1–7 scoring scale. To be admitted to degree studies, you generally need an NSC with an achievement rating of 4 (50–59%) or better in four subjects.
- Accommodation is Not Automatic: You must specifically tick the accommodation box during your online application if you want to stay on campus. Space is limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Document Uploads: You must have digital copies of your ID, your Grade 11 results, and importantly, a proof of residence (switchboard) ready for upload during the process.

Comparison: UNIVEN vs Other Major Universities
The internal links for other universities are very useful because they allow you to compare UNIVEN's requirements with other institutions. When a student sees that UNIVEN has a 30 September deadline, they may want to quickly check if UJ or NWU offer different campus options.
Based on the official documents, here is how the information compares to help a student make a final decision:
- Application Fees: While UNIVEN is FREE, you can also apply for FREE using the UJ online application steps and dates or the NWU online application steps and dates.
- Entrance Tests (NBTs): UNIVEN typically does not require National Benchmark Tests for general admission. In contrast, the UCT online application and Stellenbosch University (SU) make NBTs mandatory for almost all applicants.
- Points Calculation: UNIVEN focuses on your top subjects to reach a minimum point threshold. If your Life Orientation mark is very high, you might get a better ranking using the WITS online application steps and dates or UWC online applications, as these universities count Life Orientation points.
- Deadlines: UNIVEN’s deadline is 30 September 2026. If you miss this, you might still have time to apply until 31 October using the UJ online application.
Using these links helps a student see that if they don't meet the strict 2027 Courses Requirements at one university, they have immediate alternatives ready to click.
